Delaware Aviation Museum

The Delaware Aviation Museum is definitely a hidden gem.  Located at the Georgetown, DE Airport in the building next to the Flight Deck Restaurant, this place includes an expansive collection of WWII and Cold War era aviation photos and paraphenalia.  My favorite spot in the museum is a WWII barracks exhibit that includes a mint condition fold-up paratrooper bicycle and field phonograph among many other random articles that were popular at the time.   Upstairs you will find one of the largest aviation libraries in the country.  Books and manuals are categorized by eras, famous battles and types of aircraft.  Books may not be checked-out or removed but you are welcome to bring your own portable copier or scanner.

#1. Sounds like a great museum for anyone interested in history. I hear Delaware has a lot of authentic historical sites. How about bike trails? I have often thought it would be fun to do a bike tour of the area. Will

#2. The Delaware Bicycle Council maintains the most current links to bicycle information for the state. Their website is http://bike.deldot.gov. There is also a specific Sussex County, Delaware Bicycle Map that they have created. Hope this helps!
