Enjoy original community theatre with book music and lyrics by celebrated locals, John W. Thompson and Harold Schmidt. Plain Beautiful is the story of a young woman who must decide to forgo her way of life or abandon her dreams. It is a decision that every Amish teen must make, and the consequences of that decision will live with them forever. There is no middle ground. They must choose to live the life of the "Plain People" and forgo the modern world, or embrace the modern world and be shunned by the people they love. When Rachel falls for an "English" boy, the decision she thought was final is suddenly shaken. In the vein of Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story, Plain Beautiful is a musical about two young people from different worlds who fall in love and discover that the most difficult choices in life define who we are. Written by celebrated local playwright, Harold Schmidt.
