The Buttery Restaurant is hosting an opening for local artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans. Her new painting series ‘Primavera in Lewes’ will be displayed in the Lewes restaurant until May 19.
Bounds-Seemans, born and raised in Milton, is known for her acrylic paintings surrounded by a collage border and hand-painted frame. Her latest series will feature local scenes and floral themes, in her one-of-a-kind whimsical style, just in time for Mother’s Day. “I have been painting Lewes and local scenes for years,” she said. “This show is inspired by spring in Lewes and Botticelli’s romanticism, so I’m calling this my ‘Primavera in Lewes’ series. My paintings will have springy themes, scenes of Lewes, and fun sea life. I painted the Kings Highway barn, the Overfalls, and the Lewes harbor, in addition to fish, seahorses, and mermaids. They’re perfect for Mother’s Day gifts, and are as ornate as the famous Botticelli painting ‘Primavera’ but with my own creative twist.” Bounds-Seemans received an MFA in painting from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She is a Delaware Division of the Arts fellowship recipient and won Best Artist from Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Va. Her works are owned and displayed around the world, including at the Tideline Gallery in Rehoboth Beach.
