Two classes will be held Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and one class will be held on Sunday, May 12 at 1 p.m. You will learn two different wiring techniques to make a wire wrapped sea glass pendant using jewelry making tools. They have plenty of sea glass to choose from or you may bring your own piece from home.

Dewey Beach Triathlon

The first Dewey Beach Sprint Triathlon was held on September 14, 1996. It was held in the back of what was then called Gary’s Surf Spray Café on New Orleans Street in Dewey Beach, Delaware. The after party was held on the roof of the building. Since its inception, the race has been held as a charity event for the Sussex Family YMCA “Campaign for Healthy Kids”. The following year it was also held on the same street but quickly outgrew the venue and has been held in the Delaware Seashore State Park ever since.

January Hike Series - Coin Beach

A park naturalist will lead the final hike of the series along “Coin Beach” on Sunday, January 27 at 1 p.m. Before heading out onto the strand, park staff will discuss the history of the Indian River Inlet, how some of the park’s dune crossings got their names, and why the locals refer to this 1-mile stretch of coastline as “Coin Beach”. In addition, this hike is a great beachcombing opportunity as winter storms wash up a variety of objects, both natural and man-made, that are not typically seen during the summer months. The fee for this program is $4 and pre-registration is required.

January Hike Series - Delaware Seashore State Park

The hike on Sunday, January 13 will take place at 1 p.m. at Fresh Pond, a part of Delaware Seashore State Park located just north of Fred Hudson Road. Participants will explore over three miles of trails with a naturalist, looking for signs left by the resident deer, fox, owls and other creatures that call the forest, fields and marshes home. The fee for this program is $4 and pre-registration is required. For more information, visit www.destateparks.com
