New Show, “I Dream of Trees” opens at Gallery One, Ocean View, DE, on September 28 and runs through November 1, 2016

Dreams are magical and whisk us to the land of imagination.  Artists tend to dream a lot. This month the artists from Gallery One dream of trees.

"Tree of Life", mixed media by Rina Thaler is homage to the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. The “Tree of Life” is a reference to the story of Adam and Eve. Trees are a powerful symbol in the Jewish faith and also represent our relationship to nature. Holidays are devoted to trees to remind us to care for the environment and "repair the world".

As we drive about we cannot fail to observe our trees. “I pass these trees every day. Late one summer afternoon, the ebbing sun gave them their most beautiful moment. I felt blessed to see them in this very dreamy light, says Laura Hickman. “Trees”, Laura’s pastel, captures the glowing sun as it briefly touches the leaves and turns them golden in the late afternoon sun.

”Trees are a delight to study in every season! I love that fall spotlights the trees in the landscape” says watercolor artist, Lesley McCaskill. Her watercolor “Glorious Fall” is a lively watercolor of the show of colors in the Delaware landscape. Artist Tara Funk Grim is captivated by the giant “Old Soul”. “The old oak tree seemed to take up the entire field. The more I looked at the tree, the more I saw noticing late summer greens being replaced by the fiery reds and oranges of fall. The tree glowed in the warm fall sun.

The artists of Gallery One love the coastal Delaware landscape and when travelling especially notice the changing landscape.  “On a recent visit to Yosemite National Park, acrylic artist Dale Sheldon, cannot help but marvel at the beauty and grandeur there. Granite monoliths, proud stately trees, waterfalls, wildlife and rugged vistas everywhere. “I joyfully revisit the memory in daydreams.” “Stately Trees of Half Dome”, acrylic, captures the magnificent mountains and the beautiful blue sky of our great west.
