The Rehoboth Art League (RAL) is pleased to announce the upcoming In the Abstract exhibition, which opens Friday October 21th, with a reception from 5 – 7pm. “This exhibition consists of five components under the overall theme of “In the Abstract,” states RAL’s artistic director Jay Pastore. “It consists of abstract works in a wide variety of media, including paintings, printmaking, photography, mixed media works, drawings and jewelry.”
In the Tubbs Gallery will be a juried Rehoboth Art League Members’ exhibition. Over thirty artists submitted works for review. One highlight of this portion of the exhibition is a collection of silver jewelry created by Joan Doran. “I was very pleased that Joan submitted her jewelry for review,” says Pastore. “Each of our Members’ Showcase exhibitions are designed to allow artists working in both 2-D and 3-D work to participate.”
In the Corkran Gallery will be three exhibitions. “Ground Waters,” by Lewes artist George W. Thompson. In his works, Thompson explores the environmental impact of land and water contamination at various locations around the world. “Recent Linocuts,” by Lewes artist Mark Harris and “Illusions,” a photography exhibition by members of the Costal Camera Club who are also members of the RAL will also be on display.”
“Towards the Hollow,” by Morgan Everhart will be on view in the Ventures Gallery. Everhart is a recent 2016 MFA Graduate from the LeRoy Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Her work explores the uncertainty of location and attempts to understand how formal relationships such as color, gesture, and shape mirrors our ever-changing perspectives as we move through existence.
These exhibitions run through November 27th. The opening reception is free and open to the public, and is generously sponsored by Dogfish Head. This exhibition is made possible by a generous grant from PNC, and, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, and Gallery 50 Contemporary Art and Frame Shop, in Rehoboth Beach.
