Gallery One in Ocean View is pleased to announce the December theme “See the Light “open to the public November 30 – January 2, 2017

Light has multiple meanings. It can light darkness so we are able to see or can reveal clarity in a puzzling situation. The artists of Gallery One explore the theme “See the Light” on December theme wall.

The Delaware coastline provides unobstructed light and artists love to capture that big light.  Artist, Jeanne Mueller’s oil "Red Sky at Night" captures our magnificent sunset. “I find sunrises and sunsets to be a painter's delight.  Each day brings an ever changing light to the same place. It is never the same. It is fascinating to see all the different cloud shapes and their colors.  They can be bright and bold, soft and mellow or gray and subtle always reflecting the light in a different manner.  Laura Hickman’s ‘Morning Light” pastel captures a moment in the changing season. “I live on the west side of a small pond and love how the early morning light reflects off the water and through the colors of November’s changing leaves.”

“Winter Quiet”, watercolor by Lesley McCaskill captures winters special beauty. “In winter, I look forward to the landscape light where the colors are cool and almost monochromatic. To me there is softness and other worldliness in the winter

“Seeing the light means different things--simple degrees of light and dark, perceived light, personal light, or light shining directly on objects, to name a few” says artist Dale Sheldon. “Tangier Crab Shack” acrylic “captures literal light washing down the side of the shack, and then reflections of that light on the water. The light creates dark as contrast, and then abstracted patterns appear.”

“See the Light” opens November 30 – January 5, 2017. The popular Artisan Room features exciting textiles, hand blown glass, pottery, glass jewelry and wood pieces by local artists.
