Enjoy the baldycypress swamp on our leisurely boat tour of Trap Pond. We will talk about one of our most famous residents, the baldycypress tree. Space is limited. Explore the shorelines of Thompson Island Nature Preserve while paddling on a sit-on-top kayak. A park naturalist will guide participants around the preserve while identifying wildlife and discussing the Native American connections to the land. Previous paddling experience required.

 
 

Fort Miles, located in what is now Cape Henlopen State Park, was a key part of the nation's coastal defense during and after WWII. In September, 2004, Fort Miles was added to the National Register of Historic Places. 

 
 

Battery 519 began construction in 1941 under the threat of war. Tour the battery to learn what the threats were and how Fort Miles planned to defend the United States from them.
