    The consumption of beer and German food are integral to an Oktoberfest celebration.  Lewes will create a “beer garden” atmosphere on Market Street. The Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Historic Lewes Business Committee will sponsor their fifth annual Oktoberfest as part of their Fun Friday program this September from 2 PM to 6 PM. We are bringing Bavaria to Lewes.   Tickets to the Oktoberfest tent are $10 in advance, aged 16 and under are free.  The Happy Wanderers, 16 piece German Band and the "Bairisch und Steierisch" German dancers will perform throughout the day.

    Take a step back through time and explore the history of Life in Lewes. This 60-minute walking tour will guide you through select historic buildings at the Shipcarpenter Street Campus where you will get to see how Lewes grew from a small Dutch settlement to a bustling seashore town.  Availability to buildings may vary based on restoration projects.

    This will be the largest tailgating games event in Delaware!  

    Test your skills against other teams in games like cornhole, ladder ball among others for cash and prizes.

    This is a family event so kids, spouses and dogs are welcome as we will have bouncy houses and kids' games.

    Come out on our guided pontoon tour and try to spot some of our furry pond residents. We will discuss beavers, otters, muskrats and other mammals that call Trap Pond home. Space is limited.     The University of Delaware's festive Coast Day returns on Sunday, Oct. 1. Our theme this year is "Discoveries...on land, in the air and at sea."

    Coast Day showcases how UD scientists, staff, and students are improving our understanding of ocean environments and serve coastal communities. Coast Day attendees can interact with researchers, tour ships, try hands-on activities, and attend presentations on a range of topics.

    Journey through Lewes’s salty past while learning of the explorers who first put Lewes on the map, the pirates that sailed the local waters, and the brave United States Life-Saving Servicemen who rescued victims from perilous shipwrecks. This 60-minute walking tour includes admission to both the Lewes Life-Saving Station and the Cannonball House Maritime Museum (availability to buildings may be based on restoration projects).
