    Fort Miles, located in what is now Cape Henlopen State Park, was a key part of the nation's coastal defense during and after WWII. In September, 2004, Fort Miles was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

    Battery 519 began construction in 1941 under the threat of war. Tour the battery to learn what the threats were and how Fort Miles planned to defend the United States from them. For ages 7 and up with a paying adult. Limit 30. Pre-registration is required by calling 302-644-5007. $5 pp.

    Take a step back through time and explore the history of Life in Lewes. This 60-minute walking tour will guide you through select historic buildings at the Shipcarpenter Street Campus where you will get to see how Lewes grew from a small Dutch settlement to a bustling seashore town.  Availability to buildings may vary based on restoration projects.

    This is the 1st Annual Nanticoke Heritage Festival that joins together the Nanticoke Heritage Byway and the Woodland School House Association. The Festival will be on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Woodland Schoolhouse historic site, 27866 Woodland Road, Seaford, Delaware.

    Fall in Lewes means the Fall Craft Fair brought to you by The Lewes Historical Society. The 2017 Fall Craft Fair is on Saturday, September 30, from 9:00am until 4:00pm at the Historic Campus at Second & Shipcarpenter Streets in downtown Lewes.  Admission to the festival is $5 per person each day, to be paid at the gate; children under 12 are free. Proceeds from this event will benefit educational and preservation programs at The Lewes Historical Society.
