Coastal Concert Series Presents - Jasper String Quartet

Winner of the prestigious 2012 Cleveland Quartet Award, the Jasper String Quartet is definitely on a roll. The New York Times called this young quartet “powerful,” and The Strad magazine acclaimed it “sonically delightful and expressively compelling.” Classical Voice of North Carolina said the members play “with sparkling vitality and great verve.” After winning the Grand Prize and the Audience Prize in the 2008 Plowman Chamber Music Competition, the Jaspers went on to take the Grand Prize at the 2008 Coleman Competition, First Prize at Chamber Music Yellow Springs 2008 and the Silver Medal at the 2008 and 2009 Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions. Based in New Haven, Connecticut, the foursome of J. Freivogel and Sae Chonabayashi on violins, Sam Quintal on viola, and Rachel Henderson Freivogel on cello is a quartet on the rise.
