St. John’s Oktoberfest is just around the corner! It will begin on Friday, September 22 at 6pm and continue on Saturday, September 23 at 11:30am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church located on the corner of Seabury Avenue and School Place in Milford. Mark your calendar now!
In true Oktoberfest tradition, the festivities kick off on Friday evening with The Funsters playing all evening! New this year, however, is a 5K Run/Walk. The race begins at 6pm, with a Healthy Kids Run (kids 10 and under) starting at 5:55pm, and day-of registration at 5pm. Both races begin on School Place, in front of the Church. Registration is $20 until September 15 and $25 after and on event day. For our adult participants, free beer will be available at the end of the race, donated by Mispillion River Brewing and NKS Distributors. Sign up at TriSportsEvents.com.
After the run and dancing to the wonderful sounds of the Funsters, you will be hungry! The ever-popular Oktoberfest international food court will be serving up their traditional German entrees, along with Italian, Hispanic, Polish, good old hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, Polish ice, and homemade baked desserts! Plus, don’t miss Giamello's Coffee House with Italian and Irish Coffee! There is something for everyone’s taste.
On Saturday, the festivities will begin at 11:30am with arts and crafts booths, helicopter rides, a dessert booth with over 100 items, and entertainment to carry you through the entire day.
Children’s games ranging from inflatables such as an obstacle course, bounce castle, and Mickey's Clubhouse, plus a petting zoo and other games will be on site on Saturday. The planning committee also added adult yard games to the entertainment lineup this year. Cornhole, jumbo jenga, ladder ball, and bocce ball will be available to those 16 and older. All kids and adult games are free of charge.
Saturday’s entertainment lineup includes German Enzian Dancers, the McAleer School of Irish Dancing, Die Immergrun Musikanten – “The Immergrun Trio” – from 12-4pm and the Glass Onion Band from 6-10pm.
This Annual Oktoberfest is St. John’s and St. Bernadette’s (St. John’s mission church in Harrington) largest fundraiser of the year and volunteers are always needed. To sign up to volunteer, visit signup.com/go/sHdjSBo.
