The month of April celebrates the extraordinary heritage and history of America’s one true-born art form, Jazz. In 2001, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History created Jazz Appreciation Month as a Nationwide Festival that would pay tribute to jazz as both a living and as a historic music. True Blue Jazz is happy to be part of the nationwide party by offering up a stellar concert on Saturday April 28th at Nassau Valley Vineyards in Lewes. Vocal Diva, Suede, is coming back to the Cape Region after a long hiatus of a local appearance.
The effervescent Chantuese will be accompanied by The Fred Hughes Trio. The show is a fundraiser for True Blue Jazz in support of our Youth Jazz Initiative and our upcoming 6th Annual True Blue Jazz Festival. Our Youth Jazz Initiative works to ensure that aspiring young musicians in our community are supported on several fronts. We provide performance opportunities for our local youth musicians, bring workshops and master classes into schools throughout the County, and we provide scholarships and instrument donation to students in need. To ensure there are musicians of tomorrow, we support the young musicians today.
Bringing together the dynamic and delicious songstress, Suede, with the formidable talent of The Fred Hughes Trio will ensure our listeners a delightfully wild ride all night long.
The Fred Hughes Trio is a stand out favorite for audiences throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Pianist Fred Hughes, Bassist Amy Shook and Drummer Frank Russo are nothing less than a triple threat. They are tactician musicians that play together with such an obvious joy to be in each others company, it almost makes you jealous that you are not the fourth member of the band.
Nassau Valley Vineyards is located at 32165 Winery Way, Lewes, DE. Tickets are $35 for general admission, and $50 for limited available VIP seating. Tickets are available on the True Blue Jazz website at www.truebluejazz.org
