    In 1943, World War II was in full swing, but it was much different than anticipated. Tour Battery 519 by lantern light and learn about U-boats on the prowl, sailors in distress and what World War II turned out to be for soldiers stationed at Fort Miles.     We're sending you on a wild CRAB Chase! Join a park naturalist on the beach at night to seek out the elusive nocturnal ghost crab. All you need is a flashlight to assist you in spotting them as they scurry from side to side in search of their evening meal. FREE.

  • July 27, 2017 - 9:00am

    Use a beach seine net to search the shallows of Delaware Bay for fish, crabs, and other creatures. Dress to get wet and wear secure shoes, no flip-flops. For ages 5 and older with a paying adult. No reservations needed. Tickets are available the day of the program with a maximum of six tickets per group. Limit 30. $5 pp.

    Explore the wonders of the park and learn about the critters that call the park "home." Campers will get the opportunity to explore the marsh, beach and bay. This is the only program when parents are not required to stay. Children will get wet or muddy! Please call for more details and to pre-reigster. Ages 8 - 11. $35 per child, per day.     Looking for a unique way to see Historic Lewes and to learn about our maritime heritage? Join Quest Kayak on a tour of the Lewes waterways. This tour is narrated by our Executive Director and includes stories of shipwrecks, pirates, lighthouses, and more.  Quest Kayak offers a short paddling tutorial prior to each trip.  Tours generally last three hours, weather permitting.

    Paddle a sit-on-top kayak through the marshes of Rehoboth Bay and catch a unique glimpse of the historic Indian River Life-Saving Station. Along this 2.5 mile journey, park anturalists will identify the wildlife that makes up this dynamic ecosystem. Pre-registration required. Ages 13 and up; under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult.  Be sure to bring closed-toe shoes, drinking water, and sun protection. $35 pp. Call 302-227-6991.
